Change your Computer Password


Campus Password Security
Because of heightened security and portal technology, the campus is now using stronger passwords. As your password will be used as your key to many resources on the campus including personalized web, email, database access, and electronic signature passwords MUST be between 8 and 14 characters in length and contain at least 3 of 4 character types (lower case letter, upper case letter, special character, and numbers).

Changing Your Password
If you are away from campus and are unable to log in please contact your department IT coordinator (or department secretary). They will make a request on your behalf. Click to send an email to the helpdesk.

If you are on campus and on a PC workstation please press ALT CTRL DEL and select "Change Password" from the buttons.

On-Campus Macintosh Users Only: DO NOT use the web page https://password.fullerton.edu to change your password.

You must change your password on-campus using your Macintosh OS X computer:

  1. Click on the Apple menu
  2. Select "System Preferences"
  3. In the "System" category, click on "Accounts"
  4. Click the "Change Password" button
  5. Type in "Old Password" and press the "Tab" key
  6. Type in "New Password" and press the "Tab" key
  7. Type in your new password again in the "Verify" box
  8. Click the "Change Password" button

Introduction
The Information Technology Division is launching a new student email system offering better email capabilities by means of Outlook Web Access (OWA), which is a webmail version of MS Outlook. In addition to larger storage capacity, you will have most of the functionalities of Microsoft Outlook’s Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes features. The improved email system will give you the ease of communicating with Admissions, Financial Aid, utilizing BlackBoard and most importantly, offer an improved means of communication with faculty members and fellow students.

How do I get an account on the new system?
Log into the campus portal for secure registration: http://my.fullerton.edu

Can I change my user name and password after I reset them?
You must wait 48 hours after selecting a user name before you can change it.

You can change your password as frequently as you like. Follow this link to change your password.

What are the benefits of the new system?
Your csu.fullerton.edu account is one of the University’s key means of communicating with you.

Outlook Web Access exceeds the capability of the previous student email system.

This is your access to computer resources at the university:
> Titan Lab, Library computers, some academic labs
> Connect your laptop wirelessly on campus
> Access Library databases from off campus.

Who needs to know if I change my address after the semester starts?
You will want to tell all your instructors and fellow students who will need to contact you. Campus administrative offices are automatically informed of your new address.

What happens to my old email?
Existing messages are automatically transferred to your new account.

What happens to my Blackboard account?
Make sure your Blackboard profile reflects your current email address.

How do I access my new account?
Log into your portal email tab or access email directly at http://email.fullerton.edu

How long does it take for the new address to become activated?
Up to 30 minutes.

What are features of the new system?
> Larger storage capacity = 500 MB
> Personalized email address with new “user-friendlier” domain

Old email account = joe@student.fullerton.edu

New email account = joe@csu.fullerton.edu

> Auto population of class schedule in Calendar
> Ability to change and reset passwords
> Accessible from any Internet Browser
> Accessible through any mobile devices with email/Internet access
> Other methods of accessibility

POP3 or IMAP

> Single logon ID for both email system and portal

"Spam" blocking

Attachment blocking so users can selectively disable attachments

Automatic log off after a period of inactivity even if the browser is left open

Important Student E-Mail News
Separated Student E-mail Policy
Student email accounts at the university are purged if you have not registered for any classes at Cal State Fullerton for 9 months. You will receive a warning email from the university about 10 days before the account is purged.

If you have received one of these emails and feel that you still qualify for a student email account based on registration activity within the last 9 months, please contact the Registration Help Desk at (714) 278-7601 within the next 10 days.

If you no longer qualify for a student email account but have saved emails in that account that you want to keep, please log onto your student email account before it is purged and forward any emails to some other email address you may have. For instructions on how to do this, please click here.
